How to mess with a coworker's desk while he/she's gone for Spring Break
5.1.04

While a friend of mine was away on Spring Break (myself also on vacation), his team decided it was prime time to test out some decorating ideas they had for his cubicle.

So here's his cubicle: dull, sparsely scattered with University of Pittsburgh and Steelers memorabilia. The flow is very... cuboidal, very angular and square, and lacking, as Strong Bad would say, "awesomeness."

Style 1: Shrink Wrap
This is a simple design that's easy to put up with the right tools. For this, you'll need to go to the maintenance area of your office building and ask for about 25 feet of pallet clear wrap. Apply liberally, and you'll have a simple design that screams "packaged food product".

Style 2: Rainbow Brite
This is a more elaborate design that uses as many frilly and colorful items as you can find. If you have any parents of young daughters or drag queens in your office, this may be a perfect choice. Notice the wall border that brings out a flowery feel to the place. This'll bring cheer to anyone's day, or send an office homophobe into a fit of dementia.

Style 3: Law & Order
Fashion is certainly no victim at this crime scene! For this tribute to the detectives and DA's of New York City, this uses some "Do Not Cross" tape and regular, everyday masking tape for an almost too-good-to-be-fake chalk line (note: for best results, have another coworker pose for the outline).

Yes, the cubicle culture can be a drag. But, with a little spare time on a Friday afternoon, you can get a rise from your coworkers with the right tools and a pinch of creativity!
