No, seriously. It's probably one of the simplest processes on the market: something happens, and then someone says what happened. Period. What part of that get's mixed up?
Now, I don't know what it was like in the "golden days" of being lied to about the Vietnam War and watching Oswald take a few slugs in the gut, but I've always thought these news folks were up to snuff. You know, on par.
Apparently, not so. We've not only become discerning with everything else handed to us in this society - now, we're beginning to question the authenticity of the information we receive as well.
What kills me is that, yes, news is generally crap, but since when did people become discerning about the news they receive? It seems like people have always gotten the news they want.
You can point to the first gimmicky turn around for any news source in the game, Fox news. First off, Fox broadcasting already has that "Bundy" stigma. It's best serving beer commercials instead of these dipsh*t political pundits, but America seems to love this O'Reilly guy. Why? I ain't touching that one too deeply... all I know is, Sean Hannity needs to get his jaw broken.
Second, I know we're living in a "red state" resurgance, but there still seems to be something disturbing about any group of people who like to hear good things about Dick Cheney. The man is like a cartoony villain from some 60's sitcom where Adam West jumps out and gives him the old, "Ker-plam-ow!" He represents everything that f*cked this nation up to begin with: rich, bitter, white men obsessed with cold war hostility, manifest destiny, and plans for world domination (Zoinks!).
Then...
You got the NPR's and the "Indy" News sources that spend hours a day focusing on the evils of Republicans and how Neo Con's are a sign of the devil. They swarm to point out the flaws of Tom Delay, and spend an hour of meditation on the evils of Bush. Texans are just wrong!
Neo-Hippies all over America's college campuses are up in arms, and have been, over the "blood for oil" campaign, and gays across America have chosen this moment to start demanding marriage rights. All around, it's a trying time for the for anyone caught in the middle.

My head is in "sh-t overload", and I don't think these news people are helping. You wonder why these newscasters usually stick with the Michael Jackson trial and who won last night's American Idol disqualifier? It's because we get too muchalready. They're not reporting on dead troops, not on corporate handouts, not on pro-choice rallies,... but absolute junk that we probably never needed to hear.
And thank God for them,... for the news that we want to hear: cities are crime ridden', Eurpoe is in shambles, and weather for tomorrow's commute looks good! Did Beyonce give birth to a Chinese boy? Now, that's entertainment. Victims in the Darfur region? Nah!! Gimme' the skinniest Lindsay Lohan yet!

I know I just surfaced on a lot of sensitive issues, but really, wouldn't you rather watch "E! on Hollywood"?
